Upcoming Workshops

  • Private Instruction - Starting February 1st, 2006 and ending on March 31, 2006 Zoe will be offering private instruction in all things Holga camera and Polaroid film.

Read up on the past workshops listed below the private instruction descriptions to see the class iternary. You will meet at an agreed location and spend the day photographing landscapes and things that catch your eye. Behind you each step of the way Zoe will be offering instruction so that your photographs look the way you see them in your minds eye.

There are 2 different classes you may choose from.

  • Landscape and Random Holagroid (Holga with a Polaroid Back) Photography. Meet at the beach or on your favorite hiking trail and roam around the terrain and learn all things Holga related.

    Class includes 4 packets of Polaroid film for you to burn, and all things listed below in the other class descriptions.
    10AM to 4PM (any day of the week, no weekends)
    Fees: $400.00
  • Holga Nude Photography. Zoe will take you to some of her favorite locations for fine art nude photography and you will be instructed on how to work the holga to your advantage while photographing a professional model.

    Class includes 2 rolls of 120 film and two packets of Polaroid film.
    10AM to 4PM (any day of the week, no weekends)
    Fees: Class fee $400.00 - Model fee: $200.00
    Day trips to Joshua Tree may also be included if you so desire.
    Joshua Tree day trip: Class fee $600.00 - Model fee: $350.00
    Loading call for Joshua Tree will be 6AM. Breakfast 8AM - Lunch Noon. End shoot time will be 4PM.
  • Requirements: You must own your own Holga and Polaroid back. Holga cameras cost about $20.00 at Freestyle Photo, Polaroid backs for the Holga cost $100.00. You may only take the classes if you have your own equipment.
    A non-refundable deposit of 1/2 the class fees are due one week before the class date. Payable with PayPal. We will send you an invoice. Final payment paid at the start of class.

Past Workshops

This is for professional to amateur photographers interested in tapping into their creative side. The Holga is a toy camera that allows you to play with a bit of fate and have fun while creating unique pieces of art. See some of the Holga Photos that Zoe has created here.

In this workshop, Zoe will share her knowledge of how to use a Holga camera (a $20 plastic camera) to expand your artistic expression. Using 120 roll film to a variety of Polaroid film types, learn what you can do with this low-tech camera. This workshop will enable you to control the mysterious look and feel that this wonderful camera creates.
Topics of the class include:

• The basics of working with 120 film in the Holga
• Lighting situations that work with this camera and those that don't
• How to shoot panoramic images, to get almost macro images, and to use filters with Holga
• Shooting Holga with a Polaroid back - the Polaroid film types you can use
• Shooting with Polaroid Type 85 Positive/Negative - the only Polaroid type that will give you a negative to work with
• And many more little tricks

You are required to bring your own Holga, which can be purchased for about $20.00 @ http://www.freestylephoto.biz Freestyle Photo A Polaroid back would be helpful but not necessary to enjoy the class. Polaroid backs for the camera are $100.00.

A week after the workshop, Zoe welcomes class participants to send their Holga photos to her via email for critique.
